You’ve probably seen many people talking about the latest tokens on your Telegram communities or Twitter feed. You’ve probably seen “available now on PancakeSwap” or “just launched on UniSwap.” And you’re sitting there wondering “how to do I buy these new degenerate coins?”
Trust Wallet is one of the most popular secure crypto wallets being used today to trade or hold cryptocurrencies, collecting NFTs, staking and farming, and so much more. It’s fully and regularly audited and is available for free for anyone to use. Here’s a step by step guide on how to download and set up a wallet on Trust Wallet.

1. Download the Trust Wallet App
The first step is quite an obvious one. You’ll need to download the official Trust Wallet app. It’s available for both Android and iOS with very similar interfaces.
Download for Android devices here
Download for iPhones here

At the time of writing this article, there is no desktop or web version available. If you trade primarily on your laptop or computer, then I would recommend reading How download and use MetaMask.
It needs to be said – only use their official app. Do not download anything else with similar features that claim to offer the same or more. There are many copycat scams out there that can easily take your money. To avoid this, visit Trust Wallet’s official website to double check.

2. Create a new wallet
After you’ve finished downloading the Trust Wallet app, go ahead and launch it. You will be greeted with 2 options.
1) Create a new wallet
2) I already have a wallet
I will be assuming you’re reading this because you’d like to set up a new wallet on Trust Wallet so we will ignore option 2 for now.
Go ahead and click Create a new wallet.
You will now see a warning “Back up your wallet now!” Along with a checkbox that emphasises that if you lose your recovery words, you will not be able to access your wallet (!) This is not to be taken lightly. Prepare your notepad app or a pen and a piece of paper.
Check the box and hit Continue

3. Keep a copy of your seed phrase
You will need the following words (seed phrase) in case you ever need to log in again or import your wallet somewhere else. This seed phrase is basically both your ‘Username’ and ‘Password’ for your wallet.
The app provides you with an easy Copy button so if you’re storing it on a notepad (for now), then hit Copy and paste it in your notes.
You will note be able to screenshot it due to the Trust Wallet’s security restrictions.
The next step will ask you verify your recovery phrase so you will need to re-enter your seed phrase (in that exact order!)

REMINDER: DO NOT SHARE THIS SEED PHRASE WITH ANYONE ELSE. FFS ENGRAVE THIS IN YOUR BRAIN. IF YOU SHARE THIS WITH OTHERS, THEY WILL LITERALLY HAVE ACCESS TO YOUR WALLET AND ALL OF YOUR HOLDINGS.
Degen Reminder: Do not share this seed phrase with anyone else. Use your brain cells for this one. If you share this with others, they will literally have access to your wallet, including all your tokens and other cryptocurrency balances.

If you prefer to keep your Seed Phrase secure along with all of your passwords, I recommend using LastPass.
4. Your Wallet has been created!
Congratulations, you have now successfully created your first Multi-Coin wallet on Trust Wallet. You should now be able to see the home screen of Trust Wallet which will should the top 4 coins (Probably, BTC, BNB, ETH, and WBNB)

Optional: Name your wallet (s)
If you choose to create multiple wallets, then I would recommend renaming them according to their purpose. For example, if you use one wallet to trade ETH tokens, then name it accordingly. The same goes for BSC, etc. Better to stay organised!
Of course, you can choose to simply have 1 wallet for all your trades and holdings. Whatever you prefer. Currently, there is a limit of 15 wallets that you can create on Trust Wallet.
Optional: Switch to Dark Mode
I highly recommend switching to dark mode to cut back on your eyes’ exposure to screen brightness. Maintain your eyesight while you’re young. You’ll need it after a few weeks of staring at charts.

And that’s it! You’ve now finished the first step and you’re a little closer to start trading tokens on DEXs like PancakeSwap, UniSwap, and many more (Available in the DApps browser.) Welcome to this part of the Cryptocurrency iceberg. Remember to always DYOR and invest wisely!
